With some hesitation, I have started this blog to tell the story of my father’s journey through Alzheimer’s and my family’s efforts to cope with it. Much of the history is based on recollection of brief vignettes, sometimes offered with a lesson learned or a problem solved, and other times just as an account of a meaningful shared moment.
Above all, I want to remind people with Alzheimer’s and their families that, long after a diagnosis and following years of treatment and steady decline, there remain wonderful and powerfully meaningful human interactions that provide emotional and spiritual sustenance to all members of the family.  If you can turn toward, rather than away from, your declining family member with courage and appreciation you will discover fundamental treasures of human life that will guide your own journey long after they have departed.
